Emergencies we see the same day
- Severe toothache or a tooth that is sensitive to biting. Persistent pain can be a sign of infection that needs prompt care.
- Broken, chipped, cracked or knocked-out teeth. Timely care gives the best chance of saving your natural tooth.
- Lost fillings or crowns. We protect the exposed tooth and restore it.
- Swelling of the gums or face, which can be a sign of an abscess. We provide drainage and other treatment to clear the infection and ease discomfort.
- Broken dentures or temporary crowns.
- Bleeding or injury from an accident, such as a sports injury or a fall.
If a tooth's pulp is inflamed or infected, an emergency root canal can save the tooth and relieve severe pain.
What to do before your visit
- Apply a cold compress, take an over-the-counter pain reliever and rinse with warm salt water to reduce discomfort.
- If you lost a tooth, a crown or another restoration, bring it with you.
- Bring a valid ID, your insurance details and any dental records you have.
Getting here from Grand Central
From the terminal, head north on Madison Avenue to 49th Street. Our building, 425 Madison, is at the corner of 49th Street; take the elevator to Suite 500. Nearby subway stations include Grand Central–42 St (4, 5, 6, 7, S), 51 St (6) and Lexington Av/53 St (E, M). Metro-North riders arrive at Grand Central, and LIRR riders at Grand Central Madison.
Comfortable care
We use local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide and IV sedation are available if you would rather be more relaxed. Some emergency treatments are temporary and others are permanent; your dentist will explain the long-term options for your tooth.
Insurance and payment
We accept major PPO plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Guardian, MetLife, Delta Dental, Principal and Empire, and we can file out-of-network claims for you. We check your benefits before treatment so you know what your plan may cover (insurance). Patients without insurance can ask about our Kleer membership plan, and financing is available with CareCredit and Cherry, subject to credit approval.
